It is been a while since I’ve heard about the annual Whittington Press Open Day, the event I absolutely wanted to visit but never had a chance to. So when Patrick Goossens from Letter-kunde Press (BE) kindly offered me a ride I said 'Great! I'm in!'.

Stuck at home? Have some extra time? Check out my collection of carefully selected videos about letterpress printing. Stay safe. Wash your hands.
Unfold the wrinkles of time.
Time for the slightly late New Year's card post. Usually each year I make time to design, typeset and print the cards to send to the fellow designers/printers. I'm sure many of you already got a few cards over the years, some of them in the form of newspapers, posters or…cards. Well, typesetting with wood and metal type, proofing, making corrections, letterpress printing are the things I enjoy the most (well, except the make-ready part which might take an extra hour). But this time I've done some typesetting for someone else: for a colleague letterpress printer Jozias Boone.

Visiting Chalcography department in Brussels. 11.07.19.
Yeah, it is summertime! Time to take a break, visit places, meet old and new friends and enjoy the sun. So last week we, a group of printmaking enthusiasts, decided to take a day off to visit the Chalcography department of the Royal Library of Belgium/KBR in Brussels, currently lead by talented illustrator and printmaker Leen Van Hulst. To be honest, before meeting Leen during the letterpress workshop in Antwerp earlier this year I had no idea about this department at all. So when she kindly suggested to visit it we immediately scheduled the appointment.

Every year, in June, I take a few days off to travel to Milan to attend the Letterpress Workers Summit in Milan, a unique event gathering more than letterpress practitioners from Europe and US (blogpost about the event will follow next month). After a short train ride from Milan, we, a group of 10-12 people arrived in the city of Parma. The Bodoni Museum is only open till 13 o'clock and it is better to arrange an appointment before visiting, although it requires a certain knowledge of the Italian language. And we have to thank John Christopher (Flowers & Fleurons, UK) for contacting the museum staff.

For the 7th time Topo Copy and the Museum of Industry (formerly known as the MIAT) will bundle their forces to organise one more edition of DRUKOPSTRAAT steamroller printing festival. This time the festival will take place just in front of the Museum of Industry which will actually celebrate the reopening of the printing department during the same weekend of 4th & 5th May!
During this two-day event around 20 artists were printing their impressive large pieces of linocut (carved in advance) not on a printing press, but on the street and with a steamroller, a road construction machine which normally is being used for road maintenance. So be sure to pass by when are in Gent ;)
