The cover of this newsletter was designed and printed in the printing department of the Industry Museum in Ghent. A department with an impressive collection of printing presses restored and maintained by an enthusiastic team of passionate professionals and volunteers. You can regularly find them on the 4th floor, where they demonstrate various printing equipment or you can also apply for various workshops taking place at the museum (letterpress, drypoint, silkscreen and lego print).

AEPM annual conference 2024. Printing museums and the Art of Survival. TYPA, Tartu (EE). 23-25.05.2024.
From 23rd to 25th May 2024 TYPA centre was hosting the annual Association of European Printing Museums (AEPM) conference, bringing together print museums, print artists, researchers and enthusiasts from across Europe and on a global scale. Over three days conversations, lessons and exchanges will contribute to the active survival and exchange of knowledge. Moreover, this year Tartu was declared the European Capital of Culture so I had one more reason to travel to this charming city ;)

Lang leve de zwarte kunst | Jaaropleiding Letterzetten 2024-2025
Wil je je een jaar lang verdiepen in het vak boekdruk? Wil je leren letterzetten en drukken op de proefpers? Volg dan onze nieuwe jaaropleiding Letterzetten. De jaaropleiding hoort bij het driejarige project ‘Lang leve de zwarte kunst’ van Drukwerkplaats Atelier t in samenwerking met het Industriemuseum, CC De Borre en de Genkse Academie voor Beeldende Kunst en Media.
Het programma bestaat uit 6 driedaagse werkweekends, online bijeenkomsten en plaatsbezoeken in Vlaanderen en Brussel. De begeleiding is in handen van ervaren docenten: Thomas Gravemaker, Armina Ghazaryan en Niels Goovaerts. Aanmelden voor 14 juli. Niet te missen!

Haal je favoriete Gentse spreuk boven en maak er je eigen affiche van op A4-formaat. Tijdens deze workshop zet je jouw Gentse leuze met loden of houten drukletters uit de museumcollectie. Vervolgens druk je jouw ontwerp af in de drukkerij van het museum.

Ontdek samen met mama, papa, oom of oma de druktechniek 'linosnede' Je krast jouw tekening in een stukje linoleum. Je wrijft het in met drukkersinkt. En je drukt het af met een proefpers. Lekker eenvoudig, met een prachtig eindresultaat! Voor kinderen van 8 tot 12 jaar met begeleider. 1 ticket per duo.
3. Drukken met brik // 25.07.2024 - link
Ontdek de druktechniek ‘droge naald’. Je krast jouw tekening op een stukje drankkarton. Je wrijft het in met drukkersinkt. En je drukt het af met een proefpers. Lekker eenvoudig, met een prachtig eindresultaat! Voor kinderen van 6 tot 12 jaar, zonder begeleider. 1 ticket per kind. Ouders die willen komen kijken, betalen een toegangsticket voor het museum.

Paulo de Cantos (Portugal, 1892-1979) a publisher, bibliophile, educator, and amateur typographer who wrote, designed, and published around forty titles between 1920 and 1960 occupies a particular place in the process of artistic modernisation in Portugal. This exhibition presents the viewer with Cantos’ self-published work through the narratives of his (re)discovery by the Portuguese graphic design studio barbara says.
