I really like to visit all kinds of art & design fairs and exhibition, but I never been to Art Up! yet, an annual art fair which is taking place next week from 25 to 28 February in Lille (FR). And as it is only an hour drive from Gent I think I will be heading to Lille next weekend.

Have you ever wanted to spend your summer vacation printing posters using wood/lead type with Dafi Kühne at his spacious workshop in Näfels? Well, that's your chance!

Typographic Letterpress Poster Workshop (June 20th – July 2nd, 2016) with Dafi Kühne is an intense 2-week summer program in Switzerland for international graphic design students. The workshop’s goal is to bridge the gap analog design and production tools and professional contemporary typographic posters.

This tiny museum located just one street away from my house is a perfect place of tranquility in the historical center of Ghent. The Huis van Alijn tells a timeless story about the culture of
everyday life through ordinary objects and curiosities spread over 3 buildings which have been dated back to the 14th century. After being a hospital, shelter, chapel, and a carpenter shop the building started to decay and in 1941 it has been acquired by the city of Ghent and after restoration opened its doors as the Museum of Folklore/Huis Van Alijn in 1962.

Don't you just love the smell of freshly printed ink in the morning? I certainly do!

For the second year in a row, I'm participating in the Christmas Cards Exchange project organized by the group of enthusiastic letterpress printers from the UK. The group of participants is growing every year (we were with more than 60 this year) and it is an absolute joy to receive the Christmas cards from Iceland, US, Denmark, Italy, The Netherlands, Argentina and so on. Tucked away near Sint-Jacobsplein in Ghent once stood a place that many locals still remember with a certain nostalgia: Marchand’10. The name Marchand’10 (Marchandise) — French for “merchant” — suited the place perfectly. This was never just a shop, but a world of its own. It felt more like wandering into a densely packed cabinet of curiosities.

It’s been quite a while since I started my Sunday type walks. What began as a simple stroll through the city—my only free day as a self-employed graphic designer—quickly became a way to move, clear my head, and indulge my long-standing fascination with typography in all its forms. Long Live the Black Art. Mini-expo at the Museum of Industry, Ghent. 24.01 - 23.02.

From 24 January to 23 February 2026, the participants of this year’s Long Live the Black Art programme will take over a small exhibition space at the Museum of Industry in Ghent.
They’ll be showing a mix of personal work and their final projects from the programme — not just polished prints, but also glimpses into how those prints came to be. Think process, materials, experiments, and the decisions made along the way.

Letterpret or Alphabet Cards

The wood-type collection at the Museum of Industry in Ghent is exceptional, and I’m lucky to work with it every day. Typesetting cards and posters, pulling prints in the museum’s workshop — even after all these years I’m still discovering new, curious, and beautifully worn pieces in the drawers.
