For the fifth year in a row, the Officina Tipografica Novepunti is organizing the Letterpress Workers International Summit (LpW), an annual meeting of letterpress printers/designers from Europe and US. LpW is a short-term artistic residence, open to the public, where people work together on a common theme, sharing their knowledge and experience. Each year Novepunti produces a book accompanied by letterpress printed posters made by Letterpress Workers. The book is printed in 120 copies and it will be available during the event.
The theme of this year is Fear. More than 24 designers will be creating works using only wood type, lino and printing presses. Alongside the daily printing sessions, there will be plenty of hands-on activities for the visitors: various workshops for kids and adults, from postcard printing to hand lettering and linocut to the demonstrations of carving letters in stone in the courtyard and papermaking.
But there is more. There will be a lecture about Kaba ornaments and the Tipoitalia 3 book launch will take place on 10th of June.
And if that is not enough there will be a little auction held on Saturday the 11th of June where you can buy various items from dusty drawers to books, and the Letterpress Workers will sell some of their treasures.
So next week I'm packing my bags and leaving for Milan to enjoy 4 days of printing in a great company of fellow designers. See you there! Ciao!
