After visiting the Paper mill Herisem we headed to the National Bank museum in Brussels. Founded in 1982 the museum has an impressive collection of numismatic items, documents, books etc. After visiting the luxurious rooms of former bank directors our guided tour lead us to the shareholders room. Apparently in the mid-19th century, Victor Hugo was one of the largest shareholders in National Bank of Belgium. Then we arrived in thematic hall covering the history of origin and further development of money. From Yap its doughnut-shaped stone money, assignat and the first note of the National bank (1851) to WOI and very illustrative Japanese invasion money. And, of course, the last room was dedicated to the euro and the printing process. Well, unfortunately, we were not allowed to see any printing equipment:)
