Too early for New Year's wishes, but time for champagne nonetheless. We got some great news last week. In 2023, we will receive a grant from the Flemish government to enter into our own expert-level letterpress learning programme, with Niels Goovaerts (Atelier t) and myself as students and the one-and-only Thomas Gravemaker (Letterpress Amsterdam) as maestro. The scholarship allows us to take the time to dive even deeper into the craft, drawing on all Thomas' knowledge and experience. It will be a combination of online sessions and intensive three-day weekends. It will be gruelling, with such an all-seeing master! š Never thought we stood any chance, but never say never. We will be working in Atelier t and in the Museum of Industry in Ghent. Great chance to preserve the knowledge and pass it on. Keep an eye on this space.

Gentse Feesten 2022! Or poster, card and Late Donderdag.
hA! After a break of 2 years because of 'you-know-what' the Ghent Festivities (Gentse Feesten) were back in the city. Since their origin in 1843, the Ghent Festivities have developed into one of the largest cultural festivals in Europe. This ten days festival is both an urban festival, a cultural event and a large-scale popular feast.

'Ka-ching!' Posters for the Museum of Industry
To celebrate the opening of the new temporary exhibition 'Ka-ching!' at the Museum of Industry, 2 letterpress printed posters has been added to the museum shop.

HITS! ā PRINTMAKERS' TOP TEN
When Annegret Frauenlob (Atelier für Grafik und Buchkunst, DE) invited me to participate in the 'Hits! Printmakers' Top Ten' project I wasn't quite familiar with it yet, but as it involved music and printmaking I thought 'Hey, you can't go wrong with that, can you;)'.

Proud to be a part of this series of designers portraits (Dutch-spoken), filmed by Sebastiaan Vandierendonck (Walbaum Brothers) at the Museum of Industry (Ghent) this summer. Here is my short story about being born in Yerevan (Armenia), moving to Moscow (Russia), spending my childhood at the Embassy of the Soviet Union in The Hague (Netherlands). Speaking four languages, having a stammer and which influence it had on my professional life (spoiler: it is OK ; ). About my graphical journey in Belgium where I live for the last 18 years, my graphic design heroes and the importance of typesetting with wood/metal type and letterpress printing for future graphic designers.
