Memphis Film & Television and AVRO presents the first film/documentary about Piet Zwart (1885 - 1977), directed by Sherman De Jesus.
"Alles Moet Nieuw - Piet Zwart" (Everything Must Change - Piet Zwart) tells the story of this influential designer. He worked as an interior designer, industrial designer, advertising typographer, photographer, critic, teacher and played an important role in the Dutch design scene of the 20th century. Originally trained as an architect Piet Zwart is mainly known for his (typo)graphic work, as for instance for Wils, Vickers house, NKF (Nerderlandsche Kabelfabriek), PTT etc. In 2000 Piet Zwart was awarded 'Designer of the century' titel by the Beroepsorganisatie Nederlandse Ontwerpers (Association of Dutch Designers).
The world premiere, in a presence of his children Peernel and Comine Zwart, will take place on april 14 in Gemeentemuseum Den Haag (The Hague Municipal Museum). Further screenings will be at Bosch Art Film festival (BAF) and at Filmtheater De Fabriek in Zaandam. I'm very curious about the film and hope they will bring it to Belgium (or TV screens) someday.
